Where I Started
When I was graduating high school, I was constantly thinking about what career I wanted. I decided to chose to major in business because I knew that it would give me a solid backbone for really whatever I wanted to do for my career. When I was younger, I was really intrigued by interior design and architecture. I thought I might go the interior design route with my career. But when I really thought about it, I didn't know how much of a market my hometown would have. I researched companies for interior design and there are plenty, but how many people really use a designer when they are decorating their homes? If I lived in a big city, interior design might have been the perfect choice. I started to think about what else I could do that was still in the same realm. I toyed with the idea of real estate and did some more research. I finally thought I would give it a try. I took a leap this past summer and took on an internship with a real estate agency. While working for the agents, I was also included in a mentoring group they held twice a week. From these experiences, I learned that I really enjoyed the atmosphere and all the aspects of real estate. About a week or two into my internship, I bought the courses you have to complete to get your Illinois Real Estate License. I am currently still working on these courses and plan to take the test soon after graduation in the spring. I hope that someday my love of interior design can be used while working in real estate.
