Top 3 Priorities When Starting My Career

 1. Creating a personal brand for myself - Your personal brand means a lot. It is the way people perceive you, the things they hear about you, and it will ultimately affect your clientele. Soon enough, it will be time for me to think about how I would like to market myself and my real estate services. Right now, I would like my brand to be professional, detail-oriented, and welcoming. I want to give clients the help they need in a stress free, efficient manner. I want them to feel comfortable with the process through every step. Good communication also plays a big factor into this as well. I hope to listen and understand my client's goals while also effectively delivering info in a timely manner. This will build your client's trust and make them feel more at ease.  2. Study the market - I know I will need to keep a close eye on the market so that I can stay as updated as possible. This will help me stay in the know as well as my clients getting the most effective information....

Predictions

Currently, I am a senior in college. This is my first semester of senior year and second semester is approaching quickly. Soon into second semester, the big graduation will be looming. I will be graduating school for the last time, and moving into the real world. At this very point next year, I will not be going back to college like some of my friends will. It really is scary and exciting at the same time. Taking a look at this year ahead of me, I am very hopeful that I will achieve some big things. Right now, I am working on my 75-hour pre-license real estate courses. Before graduation in May, I plan on completing these courses as well as preparing for my state and national exams. Either before graduation or soon after, I want to take my exams to secure my Illinois Real Estate License. However, I predict that I may have to take the test a few times. Most agents that I have met have had to take the test a few times before they passed. The first time or two gives you a feel for the...

How To Get Your License

To get your Illinois real estate license, you need to meet a few requirements. First, you must be at least 18 years old, have a high school diploma or equivalent, and have a Social Security number or taxpayer ID. Next, complete a 75-hour pre-license education course from an approved provider. For my 75-hour courses, I am using The CE Shop. So far, I really am enjoying these courses and the way that this provider has everything set up. They give you information and helpful resources and then they have you answer questions about the material as you move through the course. At the end of each unit, there is a unit exam to pass before moving on. This provider does a good job of showing you what you missed and how to improve. After that, you’ll need to pass the Illinois Real Estate Exam, which covers both state and national real estate topics. I haven't reached this stage yet but I am hoping to take the exam shortly after I graduate in the spring. Before taking the test, there will be a...

Where I Started

When I was graduating high school, I was constantly thinking about what career I wanted. I decided to chose to major in business because I knew that it would give me a solid backbone for really whatever I wanted to do for my career. When I was younger, I was really intrigued by interior design and architecture. I thought I might go the interior design route with my career. But when I really thought about it, I didn't know how much of a market my hometown would have. I researched companies for interior design and there are plenty, but how many people really use a designer when they are decorating their homes? If I lived in a big city, interior design might have been the perfect choice. I started to think about what else I could do that was still in the same realm. I toyed with the idea of real estate and did some more research. I finally thought I would give it a try. I took a leap this past summer and took on an internship with a real estate agency. While working for the agents, I ...

About Me

Image
Welcome! My name is Taylor and I am from a small town in Illinois. I grew up on a farm with my parents, 3 siblings, and plenty of farm animals and pets. Currently, I am a college student and also working towards obtaining my Illinois Real Estate License. I am majoring in Business Administration to help secure a solid knowledge of business before entering the real estate world. To further my real estate knowledge, this past summer, I worked as an intern at a local real estate agency. My internship experience was where I finally confirmed what I really already knew - I am fascinated by and eager to learn more about real estate. This journey has been so amazing but it has had its challenges. I am here, firsthand, to help guide those who may be in the same shoes. Through this blog I want to document the path I have travelled and look forward to what is about to come. I aim to educate and inspire my readers who are interested, or in the process of taking those early steps of their rea...
